Clip-In Suspension Systems for Concealed Metal Ceilings
The Jawdah Clip-In suspension system is a concealed framework of hot-dipped galvanized iron spring tees and channels that grips the edges of clip-in metal ceiling tiles, so no grid line shows on the finished ceiling.
Clip-In ceilings are chosen when a soffit should read as one smooth metal surface. Jawdah supplies the hidden structure for these ceilings in two component sets, Standard and Advanced, together with the hangers, clips and anchors that suspend them, for commercial, industrial and interior projects.
The system is rust-resistant and offers appropriate load-carrying capacities for tiles. It is recorded as compatible with Jawdah clip-in ceiling tiles in aluminum, galvanized steel and stainless steel, while individual tiles stay demountable for practical access to the ceiling void.

Quick answer
A clip-in suspension system is a concealed ceiling grid whose spring tees hold metal tiles by their edges, leaving a flush surface with no visible grid. The Jawdah system is made of hot-dipped galvanized iron to ASTM A653M, in thicknesses of 0.4 and 0.5 mm with further thicknesses per project, and is supplied as a Standard set or an Advanced set with C-Channel and threaded-rod accessories.
How a concealed clip-in ceiling differs from an exposed grid
With an exposed grid, tiles rest on visible flanges. With a clip-in system, the carrying member sits above the tile line: each tile has formed edges that press onto a spring tee and are held by its sprung profile. The joint between tiles becomes a fine shadow line rather than a metal band, and the ceiling appears continuous.
Jawdah offers this concealed solution for projects that need a clean finish together with practical access. Contractors choose the Standard or Advanced component set according to tile type, tile size, ceiling design and load requirements.
Jawdah Clip-In product specification
The values below come from the Jawdah product information for its Clip-In suspension system. Thickness is shown as 0.4 and 0.5 mm because the English and Arabic Jawdah sources disagree on the third thickness option; any other thickness is confirmed per project.

System contents: Standard versus Advanced
The two Jawdah component sets share the spring tee, its joiner and the U-Channel. The Standard set adds a spring tee bracket and hangs on rod hangers, adjustment clips and anchor bolts. The Advanced set replaces the bracket with a C-Channel primary member and uses Omega Clips, C-channel Clips, threaded rod, G-nuts and drop anchors.
In practical terms, the Advanced set introduces a separate primary channel above the spring tees, which gives an extra layer of adjustment between the structure and the tile carriers. The table reproduces the Jawdah component matrix exactly.
| Component | Standard | Advanced |
|---|---|---|
| Spring Tee (3000mm) | X | X |
| Spring Tee Bracket | X | |
| Spring Tee Joiner | X | X |
| C-Channel (3000MM) | X | |
| U-Channel (3000MM) | X | X |
| Suspension Accessories | Rod Hangers, Adjustment Clips & Anchor Bolts | Omega Clip, C-channel Clip, Threaded Rod, G-nut, Drop anchor |
The specification lists types Standard and Heavy Duty, while the component matrix is headed Standard and Advanced; confirm the set required per project.
How the tiles are held and released
Spring tees run in parallel lines at the tile module. Each clip-in tile has edges formed to engage the tee, so it is pushed up into place and retained by the spring action of the profile. Spring tee joiners connect lengths end to end, and the U-Channel at the perimeter receives the ceiling edge against the wall.
To reach the void, a tile is drawn down from the tee with the method given in the installation documentation, then clipped back after the work. Because the framework is concealed, setting out must be precise: any deviation in tee spacing shows directly as an uneven joint on the face.
Where Jawdah Clip-In ceilings are specified
Jawdah lists the Clip-In system for its metal ceiling tiles in auditoriums, cinemas, halls, computer rooms, hospitals, shops, offices, utility rooms, airports, exhibition centers, conference rooms and studios. The Arabic Jawdah text also names offices, hospitals, commercial centers and industrial buildings that need a practical, easy-to-maintain finish.
Concealed ceilings suit spaces where the soffit is part of the architectural expression: entrance lobbies, executive floors, airport concourses and retail malls. They also help where a smooth metal surface is easier to clean than a gridded ceiling with exposed ledges.
Galvanized iron core and corrosion behaviour
All carrying members are hot-dipped galvanized iron stated to comply with American ASTM A653M. The zinc layer is what gives the system the corrosive and humidity resistance listed in its features, and the raw material is recorded with humidity resistance up to 1000 hours according to EN ISO 6270-2, a condensation-atmosphere test method.
Because the framework is hidden, it is not painted for appearance; the visible finish belongs entirely to the tiles. The Jawdah data also describes the product as environmentally friendly and recyclable.
Fire and humidity references and what they cover
Three groups of references are recorded, all for the raw material. Fire propagation is per British Standard BS 476 Part 6 – 1989. Surface flame spread is Class 1 per BS 476 Part 7 – 1997, and the fire reaction class is A1. Humidity resistance is up to 1000 hours according to EN ISO 6270-2.
These are material classifications. They do not give an installed Clip-In ceiling a fire-resistance period, and they should be quoted with the words raw material in specifications and submittals.
- ASTM A653M: galvanized iron core material.
- BS 476 Part 6 – 1989: fire propagation, raw material.
- BS 476 Part 7 – 1997: Class 1 surface flame spread, raw material.
- Fire reaction class A1: raw material.
- EN ISO 6270-2: humidity resistance up to 1000 hours, raw material.
Compatible Jawdah clip-in tiles
The Clip-In system is compatible with Jawdah Clip-In metal ceiling tiles made from aluminum, galvanized steel and stainless steel. In the tile data, the Standard set pairs the tiles with spring tee, spring tee bracket and joiner, a U-shape wall angle and rod hangers, adjustment clips and anchor bolts; the Advanced set pairs them with spring tee and joiner, C-Channel, a U-shape wall angle and Omega Clip, C-channel Clip, threaded rod, nut and drop anchor.
Lay-in tiles are not designed for spring tees; they belong on the exposed T-Grid system. When a project mixes concealed and exposed zones, list each zone separately so the right grid reaches each area.
Design checks before specifying Clip-In
Confirm the tile size and module first, because spring tee spacing follows the tile. Decide whether the Standard or Advanced set is required, considering ceiling area, plenum depth, the number of fittings and the access pattern. Coordinate light fittings and diffusers so that they align with tile joints instead of cutting across them.
Plan the perimeter detail early. A U-Channel at the walls gives a clean edge, but it fixes the starting point of the module, so balanced cuts must be worked out on the reflected ceiling plan rather than on site.
Installation points for a concealed system
Fix the perimeter U-Channel to a level line, set anchors and hangers, and, for the Advanced set, install and level the C-Channel primaries. Hang the spring tees at the tile module, join lengths with spring tee joiners, then clip in tiles starting from a reference line so that joints stay straight across the room.
Jawdah names a Clip-In Suspension System Technical Data Sheet and the Metal Ceiling System Catalogue for this product, plus an Installation Manual and Tests available in hard copy. Request them from the Jawdah team before setting out begins.
Selection mistakes with clip-in suspension
Concealed ceilings leave little tolerance for error, so the most costly mistakes are made at the specification stage.
- Ordering clip-in tiles with an exposed grid, or lay-in tiles with spring tees.
- Leaving the Standard or Advanced set undecided in the BOQ.
- Assuming a thickness that has not been confirmed for the project.
- Ignoring plenum depth when choosing threaded rod or rod hanger lengths.
- Quoting BS 476 results as a fire rating of the ceiling assembly.
- Setting out the module on site instead of on the ceiling plan.
Access and maintenance in service
Clip-in ceilings remain accessible: tiles are released individually for work on lighting, cabling or ducts and then clipped back. Release tiles with the correct method rather than by levering at the edge, which can bend the tile flange and spoil the joint line. Keep a small stock of spare tiles from the same batch for replacements.
Clip-In compared with T-Grid
Clip-In gives a flush, gridless appearance and a smooth surface that is easy to wipe, at the cost of more precise setting out. T-Grid shows its flanges but allows tiles to be lifted out simply and tolerates small site deviations more easily. Many projects use Clip-In in public areas and T-Grid in back-of-house zones.
| Point | Clip-In | T-Grid |
|---|---|---|
| Grid visibility | Concealed | Exposed flange (T-24 or T-15) |
| Tiles carried | Clip-In metal tiles | Lay-in, lay-on and tegular tiles |
| Main carrying member | Spring Tee (3000mm) | Main-Tee (3600MM) |
| Recorded thickness | 0.4 | 0.5 mm, others per project | 0.28mm Regular / 0.32mm Heavy duty |

Ask the technical teamFrequently asked questions
What is a clip-in suspension system?
It is a concealed ceiling framework in which spring tees grip the formed edges of clip-in metal tiles. The tiles form a flush surface with no visible grid, while each tile can still be released for access.
What is the difference between the Standard and Advanced sets?
Both use Spring Tee (3000mm), Spring Tee Joiner and U-Channel (3000MM). Standard adds a Spring Tee Bracket and uses rod hangers, adjustment clips and anchor bolts; Advanced adds a C-Channel (3000MM) and uses Omega Clip, C-channel Clip, threaded rod, G-nut and drop anchor.
What thickness is the Jawdah Clip-In system?
Jawdah lists 0.4 and 0.5 mm. Its English and Arabic sources differ on a third option, so any other thickness is confirmed with the Jawdah team per project.
Which tiles work with the Clip-In system?
It is compatible with Jawdah clip-in ceiling tiles in aluminum, galvanized steel and stainless steel. Lay-in tiles are installed on the exposed T-Grid instead.
What fire references apply to the Clip-In system?
For the raw material: fire propagation per BS 476 Part 6 – 1989, surface flame spread Class 1 per BS 476 Part 7 – 1997, and fire reaction class A1. These are material classifications, not a fire-resistance period for the ceiling.
How humidity resistant is the Clip-In system?
The raw material is recorded with humidity resistance up to 1000 hours according to EN ISO 6270-2. Humidity resistant does not mean the ceiling can be exposed to direct water.
Can clip-in tiles be removed after installation?
Yes. Tiles are released individually for access to services above the ceiling and clipped back afterwards, using the method described in the Jawdah installation documentation.
Is a load capacity published for the Clip-In system?
No numerical value is published. Jawdah states that the system offers appropriate load-carrying capacities for tiles; fittings with their own weight are reviewed per project.
Which documents are available for the Clip-In system?
Jawdah names the Clip-In Suspension System Technical Data Sheet, the Metal Ceiling System Catalogue, an Installation Manual and Tests available in hard copy, all requested from the Jawdah team.
