5-Ribs Roof Sandwich Panels
The 5-Ribs Roof Sandwich Panel is the five-rib variant of Jawdah's high-rib PIR roof panel, with more closely spaced ribs across the panel width that give a finer roof texture and narrower troughs.
Adding ribs across the same panel width changes both the look and the behaviour of the outer sheet. Five ribs divide the surface into narrower bays, so the roof reads as a tighter, more regular pattern, and the flat areas that can flex or show marks become smaller.
Jawdah names this variant in its inventory and states that its roof panels are high rib, but it does not publish five-rib dimensions or spans. This page explains the five-rib principle, the Jawdah roof data that applies to it, and what to confirm with the Jawdah team.

Quick answer
A 5-rib roof sandwich panel is an insulated roof panel whose outer sheet has five raised ribs across its width, giving a finer pattern and shorter flat bays than a three-rib profile. Jawdah offers it within its high-rib PIR roof range, with roof R-values from 1.346 to 4.45 m²K/W depending on thickness. Rib geometry, cover width and spans are confirmed per project.
What changes with five ribs
On a five-rib panel the stiffening ribs repeat more often, so each flat bay between them is narrower. Narrow bays are less prone to visible waviness and local marking, which matters when the roof or its underside is seen at close range, for example on canopies, umbrellas and low roofs viewed from neighbouring buildings.
The trade-off is that each trough carries water in a narrower channel. On long roof runs or very low slopes, drainage capacity per trough should be checked against the profile data that Jawdah provides for the project.
Roof-family facts that apply to the five-rib variant
The Jawdah source lists the five-rib panel by name only. Because it belongs to the same high-rib PIR roof range, the following published roof data apply; profile-specific values remain to be confirmed.
| Topic | Status |
|---|---|
| Lock and external design | High rib |
| Roof R-values | 1.346 (30/60), 1.818 (50/80), 2.273 (75/105), 4.45 (100/130 mm) m²K/W |
| Insulation core | PIR; DIN 4102 B2 classification stated for the core |
| Facings | PPGI, aluminium, stainless steel or galvanized iron; polyester or PVDF |
| Five-rib geometry and cover width | Confirmed per project |
| Spans and fastener layout | Confirmed per project |
Five ribs versus three ribs: the engineering principle
Spreading the stiffness over more ribs makes the outer skin more uniform across its width. Whether the five-rib panel spans further or less far than the three-rib one depends on rib depth, sheet thickness and core thickness together; more ribs do not by themselves mean a longer span. Treat the two variants as different profiles with their own span tables, both supplied by Jawdah on request.
Where a five-rib roof is often preferred
Five-rib profiles are frequently chosen where the roof is visible or where a refined texture suits the building. Among Jawdah's listed roof applications, that includes gas station canopies, heavy duty umbrellas, temperature controlled facilities and commercial facilities.
- Gas station canopies seen from below and from the forecourt
- Heavy duty umbrellas and shade structures
- Roofs of temperature controlled facilities
- Commercial facilities with visible roof edges
What to confirm when specifying 5-rib
Confirm the five-rib cover width and rib height, the span at your purlin spacing and thickness, and the drainage capacity on your roof length and slope. Select the thermal value from the four roof thicknesses on the Roof Sandwich Panels page first, then check that the five-rib profile is produced in that thickness.
For canopies, also confirm how the internal face, semi-corrugated or plain, will look from below, since it becomes the visible soffit.
Installation notes for a closely ribbed profile
With more ribs per panel there are more possible fixing positions, so agree the fastener pattern with the Jawdah Installation Manual, available in hard copy, and the engineer's wind design before work starts. Fillers at the eave and ridge must follow the five-rib shape exactly, otherwise dust and wind-driven rain enter through the rib voids.
Choosing between 5-rib and 3-rib
Choose five ribs where a finer, more uniform surface and visible soffits matter; consider the 3-Ribs Roof Sandwich Panels where wide troughs and a bold industrial line suit the building better. In both cases the matching Roof Flashings and fillers are ordered for the selected profile.
| Project priority | Leans toward |
|---|---|
| Fine, uniform roof texture | 5-rib |
| Visible canopy or umbrella soffit | 5-rib |
| Wide drainage troughs on long runs | 3-rib |
| Bold industrial roof line | 3-rib |

Key facts
- The 5-Ribs Roof Sandwich Panel is a five-rib variant of the Jawdah high-rib PIR roof panel.
- A five-rib roof profile repeats its ribs more often than a three-rib profile, giving narrower flat bays.
- Jawdah roof panels have R-values of 1.346, 1.818, 2.273 and 4.45 m²K/W for 30/60, 50/80, 75/105 and 100/130 mm.
- Five-rib cover width, rib geometry and spans are not published by Jawdah and are confirmed per project.
- More ribs alone do not determine span; rib depth, sheet thickness and core thickness act together.
- Gas stations and heavy duty umbrellas are among the roof applications Jawdah lists.

Ask the technical teamFrequently asked questions
What is a 5-rib roof sandwich panel?
It is an insulated roof panel whose outer sheet carries five raised ribs across its width. In the Jawdah inventory it sits under Roof Sandwich Panels as the closer-ribbed profile option.
How is 5-rib different from 3-rib?
Five ribs give narrower flat bays and a finer pattern; three ribs give wider troughs and a bolder line. Span and drainage must be checked from each profile's own data.
Does Jawdah publish 5-rib dimensions?
No. The cover width, rib height and spacing of the five-rib profile are confirmed by the Jawdah team for each project.
What insulation values apply to the 5-rib panel?
The Jawdah roof table applies by thickness: R 1.346 at 30/60 mm, 1.818 at 50/80 mm, 2.273 at 75/105 mm and 4.45 m²K/W at 100/130 mm. Confirm the thicknesses produced in five-rib.
Is the 5-rib profile suitable for gas station canopies?
Gas stations and heavy duty umbrellas are among Jawdah's roof applications, and a finer rib pattern is often preferred where the canopy is seen up close.
Can I walk on a 5-rib roof?
Maintenance access should follow the Installation Manual: walk on ribs or boards over purlins and use walkways on roofs with frequent traffic.
What do I need to send for a 5-rib quotation?
Roof or canopy drawings, slope, purlin spacing, thickness or thermal target, facing and colour, internal face choice, flashings and delivery location.
