Flashings & Accessories for Sandwich Panel Systems

Flashings & Accessories covers the trims, cappings, fixings, sealants and closures that finish a Jawdah sandwich panel roof or wall at every edge, corner, opening and joint.

External ridge cap flashing profile (RF-103) for sandwich panel roofs

A panel envelope is only as good as its edges. The panels themselves are factory-made and consistent, but the places where they stop, turn a corner, meet a window, reach the ground or cross the ridge are closed on site with formed metal flashings and small components. That is where most leaks, dust ingress, thermal bridges and untidy finishes start.

Jawdah lists accessories and flashing among the factors that shape a sandwich panel quotation, and it supplied wall and roof panels with accessories to Saudi Aramco facilities in 2019–2020. Item lists and dimensions for individual flashings and accessories are not yet published, so they are confirmed per project.

Quick answer

Sandwich panel flashings are formed metal trims that close panel edges at corners, openings, bases, ridges, eaves and verges; accessories are the fixings, sealants and closures that hold and seal the system. Jawdah quotes them together with its panels, as one of the price factors alongside thickness, coating, quantity and location. Individual item lists and sizes are confirmed per project.

Why flashings and accessories matter

Flashings do three jobs at once: they shed water away from joints, they cover cut panel edges so the insulation core is protected, and they give the building its finished lines. Accessories make the system hold together: fasteners carry wind loads, sealants close laps, and profile fillers stop wind, dust, birds and insects entering through rib voids.

Leaving these items vague in the BOQ is one of the most common reasons why panel projects run over budget. A clear schedule at tender stage avoids site improvisation and mismatched colours.

What Jawdah states about flashings and accessories

The Jawdah sandwich panel price guidance names accessories, flashing, transportation and installation requirements as one of the factors that determine the quotation. Its published project reference for Saudi Aramco facilities (2019–2020) records sandwich panels for walls and roofs supplied with accessories.

No item-by-item list, profile drawing, girth or thickness is published for flashings or accessories. The Jawdah team confirms the components and their details against each project's drawings.

The three groups in this range

The range is organised in three groups so each one can be specified clearly. Wall Flashings close external and internal corners, window and door openings, the wall base and the parapet top. Roof Flashings cover ridges, eaves, gables or verges, valleys and roof penetrations. Accessories include fasteners, sealants, tapes and profile fillers.

  • Wall flashings: corners, openings, base, parapet
  • Roof flashings: ridge, eave, gable or verge, valley, penetrations
  • Accessories: fasteners, sealants, closures and fillers

Materials and finish matching

As general practice, flashings are folded from coated sheet of the same material family and colour as the panel face they meet, so that they weather alike and look continuous. Jawdah panels use PPGI, aluminium, stainless steel or galvanized iron facings with polyester or PVDF coating and a standard Cloud White colour; state the matching requirement in the RFQ and confirm the flashing material with Jawdah.

Avoid mixing dissimilar metals in contact without separation, particularly on coastal sites, and use fasteners whose corrosion resistance matches the exposure.

Designing the edge details

Draw every edge condition at large scale before ordering: base, corners, each window and door type, parapet, ridge, eave, verge and every roof penetration. For each detail decide which flashing overlaps which, so water is always shed outward and downward, and where sealant or a filler is needed behind it.

Coordinate flashing colours with the panel colours on the elevations, and keep the number of different flashing shapes small by standardising openings where the architecture allows.

Installation sequence

Base trims and lower flashings go on before the first wall panel; corner and opening flashings follow as the walls rise; roof fillers and eave trims are placed before roof panels, and ridge cappings close the roof last. Follow the Jawdah Installation Manual, available in hard copy, for the panel side of each detail, and seal laps in the flashings themselves as well as against the panels.

Mistakes that create leaks and variations

These omissions appear in many panel tenders and are easy to correct early.

  • Writing flashings as a lump sum without a schedule of shapes
  • Fillers that do not match the panel rib profile
  • Flashing colour not matched to the panel colour
  • Missing base trim, leaving the panel core exposed at ground level
  • Fasteners or sealants unsuitable for coastal exposure

Ordering flashings with your panels

Ordering flashings and accessories with the Wall Sandwich Panels and Roof Sandwich Panels keeps colours, profiles and delivery in one package. Send the edge details with the panel RFQ so the Jawdah team can confirm the components and include them in the quotation.

Frequently asked questions

What are sandwich panel flashings?

Formed metal trims that close the edges of a panel system at corners, openings, the base, ridges, eaves and verges, shedding water and covering panel edges.

Does Jawdah supply flashings and accessories?

Jawdah includes accessories and flashing as a factor in its sandwich panel quotations, and its Saudi Aramco reference records panels supplied with accessories. Confirm the exact items per project.

Are flashing dimensions published?

No. Shapes, girths and thicknesses are not published in the Jawdah source and are confirmed against the project drawings.

Should flashings match the panel colour?

Usually yes, so the envelope looks continuous. State the colour and material you need for each flashing in the RFQ.

What accessories does a panel system need?

Typically fasteners with sealing washers, lap sealants or tapes, and profile fillers or closures at rib ends. The list depends on the panel profile and details.

Do flashings affect the price of sandwich panels?

Yes. Jawdah lists accessories, flashing, transportation and installation requirements among the factors that determine the quotation.

How should I list flashings in a BOQ?

By type and running length per detail, with colour and material, referenced to the edge drawings, rather than as a single lump sum.

Include flashings in your panel quotation

Send the edge details with your panel RFQ. The Jawdah team will confirm the flashings, fillers and fixings and quote them with the panels.
