Wall Sandwich Panels with PIR Insulation Core

Every Jawdah wall panel has the same three-part anatomy: an external cladding sheet, a PIR foam core and an internal cladding sheet. What changes between options is the lock design along the long edges and the profile pressed into each face.

The lock is the tongue-and-groove style joint that lets one panel engage the next. A U-lock and a Z-lock differ in edge geometry, and the choice affects how the joint is fixed and sealed and how the joint line reads on the finished elevation. Exact joint drawings are part of the System Catalogue, which the Jawdah team provides on request.

Jawdah offers four covering materials: PPGI (pre-painted galvanised iron), aluminium, stainless steel and galvanised iron. Coating options are polyester and PVDF. The standard colour is Cloud White, with other colours available upon request.

As general guidance, pre-painted galvanised steel suits most inland industrial buildings, aluminium is often chosen where lower weight or a non-rusting base metal is wanted, and stainless steel is used where hygiene or aggressive cleaning is expected. PVDF coatings are generally selected for stronger colour and gloss retention under high UV exposure, while polyester is a common economical finish for internal faces and sheltered elevations. Confirm the facing and coating combination for each face separately, because the external and internal sheets do not have to match.

Jawdah publishes overall heat transfer coefficient (U-value) and thermal resistance (R-value) figures for its three wall thicknesses. A lower U-value means less heat passes through each square metre of wall for each degree of temperature difference, so the thicker panel is the stronger insulator.

Use these values when comparing the wall build-up with the energy or thermal requirement in the project specification. The 100 mm values are reproduced exactly as published in the Jawdah product data.

The core data below describe the PIR insulation, not the complete wall assembly. DIN 4102 B2 is a reaction-to-fire class of the core material; it is not a fire-resistance period for a wall, joint or building element.

Start with the thermal target. If the specification gives a maximum wall U-value, pick the thinnest Jawdah thickness whose published U-value meets it; if it gives a minimum R-value, work the same way from the R column. Where no target is set, consider the use of the space: an unconditioned store and a cooled production hall do not need the same insulation.

Next decide the appearance and fixing approach. Plain and semi-corrugated faces suit through-fixed industrial walls, while concealed-fix concepts are chosen when the elevation must look smooth and fastener-free. Finally match the facing metal and coating to exposure, cleaning regime and colour requirement, and remember that the panel line also needs flashings and accessories at corners, openings and the base.

Wall panels are normally hung on secondary steel girts or rails, fixed with fasteners through the panel or through the joint depending on the lock design, and sealed at the side laps. A straight, plumb support line matters more than speed: panels follow the steel, and any misalignment shows on the façade.

Jawdah provides an Installation Manual in hard copy. Use it with the shop drawings to agree fixing positions, sealing at laps and the order of flashings before the first panel is lifted. Protect panel faces from scratching during handling and remove protective film according to the installer's procedure.
