03About the product

Overview

It is one of the two listed thicknesses of Jawdah’s FMR board; the other is 12.5 mm. Both belong to the fire & moisture resistant boards category within Jawdah’s gypsum boards.

Board dimensions, edge profile, weight and the standards the board is tested to are supplied in the data sheet; this page states only what Jawdah’s catalogue lists.

What the board is

Gypsum board is a gypsum core faced on both sides with paper liners, cut and screw-fixed to metal profiles to form partitions, suspended ceilings and wall linings. A moisture resistant gypsum board is formulated to take up less water than a regular board, for humid rooms such as bathrooms, kitchens and service areas.

Where the FMR board is used

Humid rooms whose walls or ceilings must also be fire rated: hospital wet areas, hotel bathrooms on rated corridors, commercial kitchens, laundries and service rooms. One board covers both requirements instead of layering two board types.

In drywall systems the board is screw-fixed to metal profiles to build partitions, ceilings and wall linings.

    Selection guidance

Choose the FMR board when the room and the wall’s role match its description above; confirm sheet size, edge type and test standards against the data sheet, and keep board, profiles and accessories within one tested system.

    Questions about this product

What thickness is the Jawdah Fire & Moisture Resistant 16mm board?

16 mm. The same FMR board is also listed in 12.5 mm.

What is an FMR gypsum board used for?

Humid rooms whose walls or ceilings must also be fire rated: hospital wet areas, hotel bathrooms on rated corridors, commercial kitchens, laundries and service rooms.

Where are the board size, edge type and standards stated?

In the technical data sheet supplied by Jawdah on request; this page carries only the catalogue listing (type and thickness).

How do I choose between the 16 mm and 12.5 mm FMR boards?

The thickness is chosen with the system design according to partition height, the number of board layers and the required rating. The rating itself depends on the tested system and the project specification, so take the thickness from that tested assembly.

How does the FMR board differ from an MR board?

An MR board is formulated to take up less water than a regular board. The FMR board adds a fire resistant core to that formulation, for humid rooms whose walls or ceilings must also be fire rated.

What should consultants check when specifying the FMR board?

That the board sits in a tested wall or ceiling assembly matching the project specification, that board, profiles and accessories stay within that one system, and that sheet size, edge type and test standards match Jawdah’s data sheet.
