03About the product

Overview

It is one of the two listed thicknesses of Jawdah’s FR board; the other is 12.5 mm. Both belong to the fire resistant boards category within Jawdah’s gypsum boards.

Board dimensions, edge profile, weight and the standards the board is tested to are supplied in the data sheet; this page states only what Jawdah’s catalogue lists.

What the board is

Gypsum board is a gypsum core faced on both sides with paper liners, cut and screw-fixed to metal profiles to form partitions, suspended ceilings and wall linings. A fire resistant gypsum board has a reinforced gypsum core that holds together longer when exposed to fire; the fire rating belongs to the tested wall or ceiling assembly, not to the board alone.

Where the fire resistant board is used

Corridor and compartment partitions, shaft walls, ceilings and linings that the fire strategy requires to be rated: hospitals, schools, hotels, offices, residential compounds and industrial facilities. The rating is achieved by the tested assembly of boards, profiles and joints, which Jawdah’s team helps specify.

In drywall systems the board is screw-fixed to metal profiles to build partitions, ceilings and wall linings.

    Selection guidance

Choose the FR board when the room and the wall’s role match its description above; confirm sheet size, edge type and test standards against the data sheet, and keep board, profiles and accessories within one tested system.

    Questions about this product

What thickness is the Jawdah Fire Resistant 16mm board?

16 mm. The same FR board is also listed in 12.5 mm.

What is an FR gypsum board used for?

Corridor and compartment partitions, shaft walls, ceilings and linings that the fire strategy requires to be rated: hospitals, schools, hotels, offices, residential compounds and industrial facilities.

Where are the board size, edge type and standards stated?

In the technical data sheet supplied by Jawdah on request; this page carries only the catalogue listing (type and thickness).

How do I choose between the 16 mm and 12.5 mm FR boards?

The thickness is chosen with the system design according to partition height, the number of board layers and the required rating. Final fire performance depends on the tested system and the project specification, so select the thickness from that tested assembly.

What should consultants check when specifying the FR board?

That the rating comes from a tested assembly, not the board alone; that board, profiles and joints stay within that one tested system; and that sheet size, edge type and test standards match Jawdah’s data sheet.

Can Jawdah help specify a rated partition with this board?

Yes. The rating is achieved by the tested assembly of boards, profiles and joints, and Jawdah’s team helps specify it. Share the project specification through Jawdah’s contact page.
