Drywall Profiles and Accessories: The Frame Behind Every Gypsum Surface

Jawdah's drywall profiles and accessories are the hot-dipped galvanized framing members and fixings that hold gypsum boards in place: Omega, C-Channel and L-Angle for ceilings, Stud and Runner for walls, and the hangers, clips, anchors and screws that connect them.

Accessories

Boards get the attention, but the frame decides whether a gypsum ceiling stays level and a partition stays straight. This category groups the two parts of that frame: roll-formed metal profiles, and the small accessories that suspend, join and fix them.

Use this page to see which components belong to which drywall application, then go to metal profiles for the full profile specification, standards and thicknesses, or to drywall accessories for hanger, anchor, clip and screw sizes.

Products

Quick answer

Drywall profiles and accessories are the metal framing and fixings for gypsum board systems. Jawdah supplies Omega, C-Channel and L-Angle profiles for ceilings and Stud and Runner profiles for walls, in hot dipped galvanized iron to ASTM A653M from 0.35 mm up to 0.9 mm, plus galvanized rod hangers, threaded rod, anchors, clips, G nuts, metal fixation screws and gypsum board screws.

Two groups that work as one frame

Profiles are the long members: channels, angles, studs and runners formed from galvanized steel strip. They create the plane to which boards are screwed. Accessories are the short parts: hangers that carry a ceiling from the slab, clips that join channels at right angles, anchors that fix into concrete, and screws that hold everything together.

Neither group works alone. A ceiling grid without the right clips cannot be levelled; a stud without the right screws cannot hold a board tight. Jawdah supplies both groups for its gypsum ceilings, partitions and linings so that the frame can be ordered as a matching set.

Which components go where

Jawdah's system component list divides the frame by application. The table expands that list with the accessories typically used in each case.

Key Jawdah data for the category

Jawdah manufactures its drywall suspension systems for gypsum ceilings, gypsum walls and interior partitions, and produces the components from hot-dipped galvanized steel for anti-rust performance and durability. The steel accessories are likewise hot-dipped galvanized and are available in different lengths, widths and thicknesses to match project requirements.

Why galvanized steel

Steel framing is light, straight, non-combustible and does not rot or warp like timber. Its weakness is corrosion, especially in humid climates and inside closed wall and ceiling cavities where condensation can form. Hot-dip galvanizing coats the steel in zinc, which shields it and corrodes sacrificially before the steel does.

Jawdah states corrosive resistance and humidity resistance for its profiles, with the raw material tested for humidity resistance up to 1000 HRS according to EN ISO 6270-2. That matters in coastal cities such as Jeddah and Dammam and in wet rooms anywhere in the Kingdom.

Standards in brief

The profile raw material is hot dipped galvanized iron complying with ASTM A653M. For fire, Jawdah gives raw-material references: fire propagation as per BS 476 Part 6 – 1989, and surface flame spread Class 1 as per BS 476 Part 7 – 1997, with fire reaction class A1. These apply to the steel as a material, not to a finished wall or ceiling. The full list with scopes is on the metal profiles page.

Matching frame, board and finish

All Jawdah gypsum boards, whether RG, FR, MR or FMR, plain or acoustic perforated, are installed on the same frame families: Omega, C-Channel and angle for ceilings and Stud and Runner for wall partitions. What changes with the board is the load: thicker boards and extra layers weigh more and need longer screws and, often, closer supports.

Ceilings that need service access also take ceiling access panels, whose frames are set into the board and supported by the surrounding grid. For modular tile ceilings, the frame is a different product: an exposed T-Grid system, covered in Jawdah's ceilings range.

Choosing what to order

Start from the drywall drawings. For each ceiling, count the main and furring members from the grid layout, the perimeter angle from the room perimeter, and the hangers from the hanger spacing and plenum depth. For each partition, take runner length from the wall length twice over (floor and head) and studs from the wall length divided by the stud centres, plus extras at doors and ends.

Then pick the steel thickness for the duty, from the lighter gauges for simple ceilings to the heavier gauges for tall or heavily loaded walls, and add accessories and screws to suit board layers. Jawdah's team can check the list against the drawings before quotation.

Ordering mistakes

Framing shortfalls stop a site faster than board shortfalls, because nothing can be boarded until the frame is complete.

  • Ordering profiles without the clips that join them
  • Forgetting perimeter L-Angle for ceilings
  • Using one screw length for single and double boarding
  • Choosing ceiling hangers too short for the actual plenum depth
  • Selecting the thinnest profile for every wall regardless of height
  • Ordering partition framing for a tile ceiling that needs a T-Grid

Why buy the frame from Jawdah

Jawdah manufactures drywall suspension systems and supplies them with the required suspension accessories, and it manufactures the gypsum boards that go on them. Ordering frame, accessories and boards together gives one point of contact for compatibility questions and one set of documents for approval, including the Drywall Suspension System Technical Data Sheet, the Installation Manual and Tests in hard copy.

Frequently asked questions

What are drywall profiles?

They are roll-formed galvanized steel members that form the frame of gypsum ceilings and walls. Jawdah supplies Omega, C-Channel and L-Angle for ceilings and Stud and Runner for wall partitions.

What accessories does a drywall ceiling need?

Typically rod hangers or threaded rod with adjustment clips and G nuts, anchors into the slab, Omega and C-Channel clips to join the grid, and gypsum board screws to fix the boards.

What thickness are Jawdah drywall profiles?

0.35, 0.4, 0.45, 0.5 and 0.6 mm, up to 0.9 mm, with other thicknesses available upon request.

Are Jawdah profiles galvanized?

Yes. They are hot dipped galvanized iron complying with ASTM A653M, and the accessories are galvanized steel.

Do the same profiles work for all gypsum board types?

Yes, the same frame families are used for RG, FR, MR, FMR and acoustic perforated boards, but heavier or multi-layer boarding may need closer supports and longer screws.

Is a drywall frame the same as a T-Grid ceiling system?

No. Drywall framing carries screwed gypsum boards in a continuous ceiling; a T-Grid is an exposed grid that carries lift-out ceiling tiles.

Do the BS 476 references apply to the finished wall?

No. Jawdah gives BS 476 Part 6 – 1989 and BS 476 Part 7 – 1997 for the steel raw material only. Wall or ceiling fire performance depends on the complete assembly.

Can Jawdah help prepare a framing take-off?

Yes. Send the drywall drawings and Jawdah's team can check the profile and accessory quantities before quotation.
