01 / Overview
Quick answer
PVC 996 is listed by Jawdah as code 996 with no published description. For approval, request a 996 sample from Jawdah, ideally laminated on a ceiling tile, and submit it with the PVC Films family data: 1.23 Meter roll width, ± 65 microns, GSM 100 GR/M and resin K value 59-60 by DIN 53726. The signed sample then becomes the reference for production and delivery checks.
Overview
Why code 996 is approved by sample
On projects with a consultant or an interior design team, a film code is rarely ordered straight from a list. It is sampled, submitted, reviewed and approved first. Code 996 appears on the Jawdah PVC Films code list as a plain number, without a prefix, suffix or description, which makes the approved sample the only record of how the design looks.
This page explains what a 996 submittal should contain, how the published family data and its test reference should be presented, and how to hold production to the approved sample.
A code without a description can only be judged physically. For 996 there is no published colour or pattern wording to quote in a specification, so the approval rests on a sample that the consultant has seen, signed and retained.
Approving a sample also fixes the reference for everyone downstream: the laminator, the site team and the inspector all check against the same physical piece rather than against memory or a photograph.
02 / Performance
Citing DIN 53726 correctly for code 996
The family data gives a resin K value of 59-60 by test method DIN 53726. In a 996 submittal it should be written exactly that way, as a resin property with its test method, and not as a product standard, approval or rating of the laminated finish.
If a consultant requests fire, acoustic or light reflectance data, those values are not part of the PVC Films data. Where the film is laminated on Jawdah gypsum tiles, the relevant data is published for the tile and is requested from the team for that product.
Design
Building the 996 sample submittal and mock-up
A loose piece of film shows colour, but a laminated tile shows the finished face, including how the film sits at the edges. Where the film will be used on ceilings, ask Jawdah whether 996 can be provided on a sample laminated tile, and present that alongside the loose film.
On larger projects a small mock-up area, laid in the actual grid under the actual lighting, lets the design team confirm the decision at scale before the full order is placed.
| Item | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Loose film sample marked 996 | Shows the design and surface |
| Laminated tile sample, if available | Shows the finished ceiling face |
| PVC Films Technical Data Sheet | Family product data from Jawdah |
| Statement of intended application | Confirms use, e.g. gypsum tiles lamination |
| Approval block with sample reference | Fixes the reference for production |
Quality
Holding production of 996 to the approved sample
Keep the signed sample in two places: one with the consultant and one with the site or laminating team. When rolls arrive, unwind a short length and compare it with the retained sample under neutral light before laminating starts.
Any visible difference should be raised with Jawdah before installation, with photographs of the roll label and the comparison. Resolving it before tiles go into the ceiling avoids rework on a finished surface.
03 / Applications
Outcomes of a 996 review
Consultant reviews of film samples usually end in one of the outcomes below, each with a clear next step.
| Review outcome | Next step |
|---|---|
| Approved | Order 996 quoting the approved sample reference |
| Approved with comments | Clarify comments with Jawdah, then order |
| Rejected | Sample other listed codes from the PVC Films range |

Published data a 996 submittal can rely on
Code 996 is listed on the PVC Films code list without a description. A submittal can therefore cite the family-level product data published by Jawdah, stating clearly that it is family data.
- Code as listed: 996.
- Material to state in the submittal: PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride) Films.
- Roll width 1.23 Meter; roll length ±500 L.M per roll.
- Thickness to cite: ± 65 microns; GSM to cite: 100 GR/M.
- Surface: High Quality Finishing; moisture resistant.
- Named documents: PVC Films Technical Data Sheet; Tests (available in hard copy).
Materials
Describing the film material in a submittal
Consultants often ask what the film is made from. The Jawdah description is a free-flowing vinyl chloride homopolymer resin of low molecular weight, produced by suspension polymerization, with the PVC 59S grade suited to rigid PVC applications. Quoting that wording directly avoids paraphrases that might overstate or misstate the material.
The resin features listed by Jawdah, such as moderate melt viscosity and high tensile properties, describe the raw resin. In a submittal they belong under material description, not under finished-product performance.

Frequently asked questions
It is listed on the PVC Films code list simply as 996, with no prefix, suffix or description.
No colour or pattern is published for 996. The design is confirmed by a Jawdah sample, which is why sample approval is essential.
A loose film sample marked 996, a laminated tile sample where available, the PVC Films Technical Data Sheet, the intended application and an approval block with the sample reference.
The PVC Films data gives a resin K value of 59-60 by test method DIN 53726. Cite it as a resin property with its test method, not as a product standard or approval.
The PVC Films data contains no fire or acoustic values. When the film is laminated on Jawdah gypsum tiles, ask the team for the data published for that tile product.
The PVC Films Technical Data Sheet is named for this product, and Tests are available in hard copy. Request them from the Jawdah team with the sample.
Request samples of other codes on the PVC Films list, for example 991, 576 or 81220-2, and resubmit using the same process.
